Overview
There are a variety of causes for stretch marks. You may have just had a baby or recently had extreme weight loss. Our skin has a large amount of elasticity, but we can still be left with stretch marks in areas that we do not want them to be.
Our consultants at The Skin Recovery Clinic are experts in the treatment of all skin types and skin issues using the latest technological advancements. We can offer both fractional laser and micro-needling treatments to eradicate those unsightly stretch marks.
Micro-needling is a virtually pain-free, non-invasive treatment which uses the superb SkinPen by Bellus Medical which is the only FDA cleared, Class 1 medical micro-needling device in the US and is proven to have super effective and super-efficient results. We can
also use the high-tech fractional laser to help remove your stretch marks, with both methods delivering highly effective results.
FAQs
How does the treatment work?
Our fractional laser treatment works by treating minute sections of the skin, which stimulate significant collagen renewal in the treated area. The non-affected surrounding regions of the skin aid the body’s natural recovery process for dramatic results without considerable recovery time. As the new collagen cells replace the old tissue, the stretch marks and scars reduce in appearance.
What does treatment feel like?
A warm sensation is felt during treatment which is tolerable for most clients.
What should I expect after treatment?
Your skin will appear red and flushed for a few hours after treatment and can feel quite hot. As the old skin tissue sheds, your skin may appear more bronzed or tanned for a few days post-treatment. Your skin will naturally exfoliate and may flake as if you have a mild sunburn.
How many treatments will I need?
We often advise a series of three to six treatments for optimal results. Your laser clinician will recommend the optimal frequency during your consultation.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are rare but could include a small blister which will heal within a week or two. Some clients do experience darkening or lightening of the treated skin.
How long does each treatment take?
Treatments typically take from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the type and size of the lesion.
